Lois "Chub" Summers, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Lois was a homemaker and had worked at Country Set and for Dunn Brothers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, the Ruth Sunshine Class and the Women's Missionary Union.
She was born February 28, 1922 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of Albert and Blanche (House) Baxter.
She married Robert Summers on April 20, 1942 at Du Quoin, IL. He passed away April 26, 1997.
She is survived by two sons- Bruce Summers of Du Quoin and Robert B. Summers of Murphysboro, four grandchildren- Amy Atteberry, Craig Summers, Ryan Summers and Brooke Summers, one step grandchild- Barry Follmann, two great grandchildren- Amanda and Hunter Atteberry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Laura Belle Baxter.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 A.M. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin, Luke Memorial Hospice or the Lions of Illinois Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
